VEX Robotics

Welcome to the world's greatest two minutes in robotics! In our group we build robots that compete internationally against Universities in VRC. Every season, our teams are tasked with engineering two robots which must adhere to specific game requirements and size constraints. Our goal is to build competitive game-oriented robots which out-compete the teams we go up against. Our teams travel nationally to compete in various competitions, with a focus on the Dallas "Worlds" competition each year in late April. Check out more about our team and how it is structured, the events we host and possible ways to be a sponsor down below!

OUR TEAM

WHO ARE WE?

Every year our team of builders and mechanical engineers put together two robots with a single mission in mind; out-perform and out-engineer our competition. BULL 1 has competed in VEX VRC competitions since its founding in 2020, and has also hosted multiple high school robotics competitions including the Florida West Coast States Championship in 2023. BULL 1 participates in a number of University-hosted competitions as well as VEX World's competitions located in Dallas, Texas. Led by our captain Nathan Moses, our team aspires to innovate in the VRC games as well as inspire young engineers to get involved in team-based projects. Our team also hosts a Robot Soccer competition for the yearly USF Engineering Expo.

Programming and AI Team

Our Team is dedicated to building software that can compete at the top level. Our tean focuses two main concepts: Software System Development and Machine Learning.  Our software development approach attempts to optimize our algorithms that control the robot's motion and control while also maximizing data throughput through our program. Our AI group works on applying cutting edge research in machine learning and Reinforcement learning to build robust models capable of performing different and complex tasks such as position translation and field manipulation. Our goal is to build programs capable of competing against human players in the competition through nonconventional model-based techniques. Our team also strives to incorporate various different computer science principles such as data compression algorithms to increase the bandwidth of data transfer between our robot's multi-device system.

OUR TEAM

WHO ARE WE?

Our BULL programming team develops software that runs on both BULL1 and BULL2's SmallBot and BigBot. Our team is committed to building open software tools, frameworks, and datasets for all VEX Robotics teams. Our approach is to model the physical environment the robot interacts with in order to use this information to make decisions that score us points. Our team focuses on simulating our team's robots in order to improve development and extend access to programming to all who are interested.
